Funding for an AMIGOS summer experience is raised through various
fundraising activities as well as a family contribution. The Portland
Chapter organizes a letter writing solicitation around the winter
Holidays, an orange and grapefruit sale in December/January, and a tulip
sale in March and April. We also help to staff a few running races during
the year. The proceeds from these activities are pooled as a group to help
pay for round trip airfare, project supplies, the instruction of field
staff to support the service activities, and to provide medical backup in
case of an emergency. Scholarships are available to those who wish to
participate but cannot afford their family contribution.
AMIGOS is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
